One thought on “Should we be re-examining our choices in optics for our defensive weapons?”
In my opinion, yes.
Don’t get me wrong, red dots are nice. But variable and prism optics come with a lot of advantages.
I have an astigmatism, it’s never effected my ability to see the dot, but it does affect my ability to correctly identify targets at range. A variable or prism optic can help you with that, a red dot cannot.
One could add a magnifier to their red dot setup, but now we’re at the weight of a variable or prism and probably added a decent amount of cost as well.
I’m personally eyeing the 2.5x prism from Primary Arms for my AR pistol.
